I was first introduced to the KISS Principle in the late seventies. I was taking a computer programming class in college and the professor would refer to Keep It Simple, Stupid in reference to the way we wrote code.
I have heard derivatives for the acronym KISS. Keep it Short and Simple, Keep it Simple Soldier. It would appear that simplicity is the goal for many walks of life.
But, how easy it is for most of us to complicate things. Often when I ask a customer who is backing out of a transaction what they want to see happen, they will reply "It's complicated."
I found that often it is not complicated. It is a matter of not having a clear vision of what they want.
I know getting clarity can be a challenge. Jumping from one shiny object to the next is tempting. Having a clear objective and a true north star keeps me on the path.
Do I get in the weeds from time to time? Absolutely! My commitment to StoryAthlete and showing up to calls makes me realize that I am on the right path. Even when I am off track I know I can go to the community and reinforce my resolve.
