I use to be like the interrupting cow. Thinking more about what I was going to say than listening to the person that was sharing information.
In having phone conversations with customers I have learned to be a better communicator not by lecturing the customer or by making my point but by listening to the customer.
When I listen to learn more about the problem they need to have solved, I am better at finding the right solution to their problem that will work for them, not for me.
With listening comes understanding. With understanding comes compassion. With compassion comes success.
