The other day as I was driving home from my commercial property, I caught one of the longest red lights in Central FL and that was just the start.
As I sat there grumbling under my breath, I looked over at the car next to me. I'm a bit of a voyeur in that regard. I check out the type of cars next to me, and what condition it is in.
Often it seems people forget you can see into their car. I'll see folks eating their breakfast or lunch, people singing to their heart's content ladies putting the final touches to their makeup, and guys picking their noses.
This day was different. After checking out the White Jeep Cherokee that had seen better days, I notice the woman inside.
At first, I thought she was laughing, probably something on the radio I thought. As I took another glance, I see she was crying hysterically. Full out, nose blowing, deep sobbing, chest rattling crying. As she was blowing her nose she glances over at me.
My usual reaction is to quickly look the other way but this time it was different.
I looked her in the eyes and gave her a look of compassion and then made the heart symbol with my two hands.
She looked surprised, to say the least, and then as she brought down the tissue from her nose she mouths, "Thank you".
That was it, we drove off as the light changed.
I know I didn't solve whatever bad event brought her to tears.
I do believe for a brief moment she did realize that someone, even a stranger cared about what she was going through at the longest red light in Orlando.
