"I'm the grown-Young Turkup...that's why!" my Mom yells at me after I asked her "Why?" one too many times.
Often as a child, I could not understand why my parents wouldn't let me stay at a friend's house or have a certain toy or go to the movies.
As a child, every day is a holiday, a vacation. Like a cruise. Eat as much as you want, stay up all night, sleep in all day. The only thing missing is the bottomless margaritas.
Like any vacation, the trip comes to an end, you pack your bags, get off the boat, and show up to work the next day.
While the vacation was fun, it is not real life. There is no Santa Clause, Easter Bunny, or pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
It is up to each of us to put on our big boy and big girl panties and do adulting every day. Why? Because I'm the grownup..that's why.
